"A significant part of my research also emphasizes technique development for atomic-resolution liquid-phase transmission electron microscopy," says UIC IFRM researcher and doctoral student Shoaib Masood.
The IFRM is one of four pilot institutes launched by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research in 2023, and consists of faculty from the colleges of engineering, liberal arts and sciences, dentistry, pharmacy and medicine.
“We are trying to develop electron microscopy sample environments that will allow us to observe chemistry at the very earliest stages of matter formation,” said Robert Klie, professor and head of [...] physics at UIC and associate director.
Through his research on new materials that hold promise for computing, energy and medicine and through his leadership of UIC’s electron microscopy core facilities, Klie has put the university at the center of nanoscale physics.
